Sketchbook pages

Hey, I've been a bit busy with various things recently, so haven't had time to finish any paintings, but here's a few pages from my sketchpad to show you what I've been working on:

1. Here's 2 pages of sketches for a Faye Wong caricature I've been meaning to do for ages. She's got really distinctive features, but I found it really hard to get a good likeness. You can see how many terrible drawings it can take before you hit on something good.

2. Here's a sketch of an ugly self-portrait I did from a black and white photo. My face looks really fat because I was looking down into the camera.

3. Here's sketches of Chinese actor Andy Lau, and Erik Per Sullivan, who plays Dewey in 'Malcolm in the Middle'. I think the Andy pic is a good likeness, I'll probably work on it later. Erik
was for a caricature forum challenge.

4. And finally, a sketch of Bruce Lee. I've already done a couple of pics of him, but never a decent caricature, I need to work some more on his facial expressions.

So there you go, a little insight into what goes on before the paint hits the canvas. More soon . . .

Faye Wong is unique.
She's actually expecting a baby in a few days. :P
PS if u'll excuse me, Bruce Lee's mouth looks ... a bit wierd. It appears on the sketch that he's got a mustache, though not very clear.
