New Caricature - Adam Sandler

Caricature painting of Adam Sandler

Finally I finished my painting of Adam Sandler. I know, it took a while! I actually started this about three years ago, with this initial sketch. Then I left it alone for a while, and finally gave it another go, trying to exaggerate the features more, something which has been lacking a bit in my recent caricatures.

I know people usually thing of Adam Sandler as a really angry guy (think Happy Gilmore, Anger Management, Mr. Deeds), or an idiot (think Billy Madison, The Waterboy), but I think this portrait captures his dopey, romantic side (I was watching The Wedding Singer when I got inspired to try this one again.)

On a side note, if you're not an Adam Sandler fan, tired of his schoolboy antics and toilet humour, I recommend the film Punch-Drunk Love. It's a dark comedy starring Sandler as the lonely, emotionally unstable Barry Egan, and it's a far cry from his usual comedy roles.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the painting. I'm travelling for the next couple of weeks, then heading back to England at the start of August, when I hope to get back to more regular painting.

If you're interested in how I created this caricature, visit the drawingboard to see the step-by-step process.
