Ok, this isn't art-related at all, but it might be of interest to those who know me. Another hobby of mine is playing the guitar and doing a bit of singing, and as I speak some Chinese, I was fortunate enough to be asked to perform a song at the Chinese New Year Gala Show held in Sheffield's Octagon Centre this February. The only Chinese song that I know both the lyrics and the chords for is the Chinese version of Coldplay's Yellow (in Chinese it's called liu xing - Shooting Star). So I assembled some musically gifted friends and we came up with this rendition. The Octagon holds about 1200 people (over half the capacity of Sheffield City Hall), so it was a bit nerve-racking waiting at the side of the stage and looking at the audience, but it's a pretty simple song and we knew it well, so I was quite confident that it would go smoothly. I've actually played at the Octagon before, for some sort of multi-cultural evening when I was in Uni, but that time we were on first and there were only about 30 people in the hall! Anyway, here's the video, unfortunately whoever edited it managed to cut off the entire first half!
